About Uggs

Ugg boots, sometimes called ugs or ughs, are sheepskin boots lined with wool, originating from Australia. They are designed to be worn all year round, as inside the boot there are fleecy fibres, due to the real sheepskin, allowing air circulation and preventing overheating during warm weather, and in colder weather heat loss is also prevented by the sheepskin. It is, however, not advised to wear Uggs in rainy weather, or in muddy places. Ugg boots referred to as "UGG Australia" boots are manufactured by Deckers Outdoor Corporation, and are often viewed to be the genuine Uggs, however Uggs have been manufactured by many companies for years. Ugg boots date back to at least World War I. Find out more in our Ugg history.

How to care for your Uggs

Due to the real sheepskin, it is not advised to use hot water to wash Uggs. They should also not be washed in the washing machine. Instead, Uggs should be gently washed with cool water. A gentle conditioner can be used if necessary. In order to make sure the shape of the boot is retained during washing and drying, it can be helpful to stuff the boots with newspaper.
